Biju is a Professor at Research Institute for Electronic Science (RIES), the Director of Promotion Office of International Alliance, RIES, Hokkaido University, and a visiting professor at Nagoya University. Biju studied chemistry at NIIST Trivandrum and the University of Kerala, which was under the guidance of Prof. George Thomas, and obtained his PhD degree in 2000. Subsequently, he was a postdoctoral fellow in Japan (JRACT and JSPS Fellowships, 2000-2003) and USA (Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, 2003-2004), and a visiting scientist at University of Texas, Austin (2007). During 2004 - 2015, he was a scientist and a senior scientist in AIST Japan. Concurrently, during 2010-2014, he was a PRESTO Researcher of Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). His research Interests include single-molecule spectroscopy and microscopy, single-molecule imaging, quantum dots, and perovskitenanocrystals. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, and an Associate Editor of the Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology C (Elsevier) and NPG Asia Materials (Springer-Nature).
